Management Team
Each member of Parity's team brings unique ideas on how the internet should work and relevant skills that cut across technology and business. Here is our team:
Paul Trevithick, CEO and Co-Founder
Jack Connors, President
Drummond Reed, VP Infrastructure
Brian Walker, VP Engineering
Tom Carroll, VP Product Management
Paul Trevithick, CEO and Co-Founder (=paul.trevithick)
Paul has been Parity's CEO since 2003. During this time he has focused on the technical architecture of Higgins and has co-founded SocialPhysics.org, IdentityGang.org, and IdentitySchemas.org. He blogs at In Context.
Prior to co-founding Parity with John Clippinger in 2000 and joining as its CTO, Paul was president of Bitstream (NASDAQ:BITS). He joined Bitstream after its merger with his previous startup, Archetype. Paul founded Archetype in 1985, and over the course of the next several years brought five successful electronic publishing software applications to market through OEM relationships with IBM, Xerox, Nynex, Apple and others. Prior to Archetype, in 1982 Paul co-founded Lightspeed Computers, an interactive design workstation spin-off of the MIT Media Lab that was sold to DuPont in 1996. He is a graduate of MIT. He helped lead the creation of the PPML standard that has been adopted by HP, Xerox, IBM and many others. Paul has contributed to XML standards efforts within the W3C. In 1999 Paul received the Seybold Industry Vision award for his contributions to the publishing industry.
Before Parity, Paul kept all his passwords in a locked spreadsheet on his computer.
Jack Connors, President (=jackconnors)
Jack joined Parity in early 2007 to begin Parity's transition from a research and development company to a consumer internet service provider.
Jack is a twenty-year software industry veteran who has focused on advanced data analytics and deployment of creative software service applications for retail and telecom. As VP of Retail Sales at Syncra Systems, Jack was responsible for retailer adoption of Syncra's supply chain collaboration solutions, building deep relationships with Argentrics, and overseeing growth at dozens of retailers including Best Buy and RadioShack. As VP / GM of GetConnected's Retail / Telecom business, Jack was responsible for creating new service revenue streams for merchants such as Best Buy, Circuit City, and AOL. Under Jack's leadership, GetConnected experienced significant customer growth.
When Jack's credit card number was stolen at a major retailer, it took him weeks to update all of his online profiles. Some bills went unpaid because he didn't remember to visit the web sites.
Drummond Reed, VP Infrastructure (=drummond)
Drummond joined Parity in mid 2007 and leads the effort to integrate data sharing technology based on XDI and XRI into the Parity technology stack. Drummond blogs at Equals Drummond.
Drummond co-founded Seattle-based Cordance Corporation (originally Intermind Corporation) in 1994. From 1994-1998 he served as Vice President of Product Management. In 1999 he became Chief Technology Officer and led the technical and business development of i-names and the i-broker distribution channel.
Since 2003 Drummond has served as co-chair of the OASIS XRI (Extensible Resource Identifier) and XDI (XRI Data Interchange) Technical Committees, where he has led the development of these new Internet standards for abstract structured identifiers and automated data interchange. He is also a founding board member of OpenXRI.org, secretary of XDI.org, a founding board member of the OpenID Foundation , and a steward of Identity Commons .
Prior to Cordance, Drummond was the founder of SoftPages, an automated software product information system that was sold to Egghead Software in 1992. Before SoftPages, Drummond started and served as President of Pattern Language, a Seattle-based computer consultancy for the film and video industry.
The last time Drummond moved, he received 25% fewer holiday cards. After he realized his friends still liked him but just didn't know where to find him, he was relieved. Then he began to build a way to make keeping in touch easier.
Brian Walker, VP Engineering (=brian.walker)
Brian Walker has over 20 years of technology experience. Since the late 90's his career has focused in enterprise software market. He has lead virtually all lifecycle aspects of product software business to Fortune 500 companies. From his experience at Silknet (customer service solutions), Kana (enterprise CRM) and Fast Search & Transfer (enterprise search) Brian has lead teams in Customer Support, Professional Services, Training, Sales Operations, Product Management and Product Development functions. His early technology career with Raytheon, Digital Equipment Corporation and Intel was focused on semiconductor process development, manufacturing/yield improvement management and quality and reliability.
Some web sites think Brian likes Transformers and Pokemon. As it turns out, Brian's just an uncle who wishes web sites were smart enough to distinguish between what Brian wants and what he buys for his nieces and nephews.
Tom Carroll, VP Product Management (=thomas.carroll)
Tom has over twenty years of technology experience, with the last eight focused in Software-as-a-Service companies. As VP Product Management at PowerSteering Software (On-Demand Project Portfolio Management) and VP Product Strategy at Syncra Systems (Supply Chain Collaboration - since acquired by Oracle) Tom led efforts in Professional Services, Training, Product Management and Marketing. His early technology career at Polaroid Corporation focused on process development, new product development and quality, where he became certified as a Six-Sigma Black Belt. Tom earned SM and MBA degrees as a Fellow in the LFM Program at MIT/Sloan.
Tom changed his ISP, which led to a change of his email address. Eight months later, he is still discovering important but infrequently-visited web sites that still have his old email. Forgotten passwords become a big problem when combined with an incorrect email. There has got to be a better way.
